Smallfin worm-eel

The Smallfin worm-eel (''Pseudomyrophis micropinna'', also known as the Plain worm eel〔(Common names of ''Pseudomyrophis micropinna'' ) at www.fishbase.org.〕) is an eel in the family Ophichthidae (worm/snake eels).〔(''Pseudomyrophis micropinna'' ) at www.fishbase.org.〕 It was described by Charles Barkley Wade in 1946.〔Wade, C. B., 1946 (16 Dec.) (4542 ) ''Two new genera and five new species of apodal fishes from the eastern Pacific.'' Allan Hancock Pacific Expedition 1932-40, Los Angeles v. 9 (no. 7): 181-213, Pls. 24-28.〕 It is a marine, tropical eel which is known from the eastern central and southeastern Pacific Ocean, including Nicaragua, Colombia, Panama and Costa Rica.〔(''Pseudomyrophis micropinna'' ) at the IUCN redlist.〕 It dwells at a depth range of , and inhabits sediments of mud. Males can reach a maximum total length of .〔
Due to its wide distribution, lack of known threats, and lack of observed population decline, the IUCN redlist currently lists the Smallfin worm-eel as Least Concern.〔
